Edwards turned a lap at 202.452 mph in bright afternoon sunshine to win the pole for Sunday's Quicken Loans 400 Sprint Cup race. Thirteen drivers ran at least 200 mph on the two-mile track, although none was within easy reach of the MIS record Marcos Ambrose set last June (203.241 mph).
